I started writing fiction in 2008, with zero clue what I was doing. I just had stories in my head and a deep love of romance. I wrote whenever I could—between classes, grading papers, and chasing deadlines. Somehow, that messy beginning led to more. I signed with a literary agent, landed a publishing deal with one of the Big 5, and in 2013, everything seemed to click. One of my books was nominated for Best Erotic Romance by Romantic Times, another received the ARE Bestselling Novel Award, and I won several writing contests that year. It was exhilarating.

But I was also on the tenure track at the time, and like a lot of early-career academics, I treated my writing like a passion project instead of a second career. I didn’t know how to manage my time, optimize my process, or treat publishing like a business. And because of that, I plateaued.

Fast forward 15 years. I’m now a full professor, a published author of five academic books, and a bestselling romance author writing under the pen names Nadia Aidan and Eve Noon. I’ve written more than 50 romance books—multicultural, steamy, and sometimes dark—and I finally got serious about my fiction business. When I did, I went from earning less than $200 a month to over $2,000/month in just six months. Now, my writing income is sustainable, scalable, and solid.

I created The Prolific Professor because I want to help other writers—whether you’re working toward tenure, raising babies, burning the candle at both ends, or all of the above. When I’m not writing or teaching, I’m running after my two wild toddlers, squeezing in a workout, or hiding in the pantry with coffee and a cookie. I still don’t have it all figured out—but I’ve figured out enough to help you get where you want to go a whole lot faster..
